description
The Handbag, Toronto, 1988.
A Toronto photographer, Green’s street photography and road shots span decades and continents. His works comprise raw, vivid and immediate photos that transport you to the road, the street, the tavern and the motel room.
They’re atmospheric, with cracked concrete and the sizzle of streetlamps. Just as compelling are the people: caught in moments of contemplation or joy, but always with characteristic directness.
The work is full of contrasts. Youthful lust and yearning, women and lovers juxtaposed with landscapes busted and stripped down. Lust as counterpoint to dilapidation.
Green’s book Personal was published in 2016 and features an introduction by LP Farrell.
