description
Chalk streams are a unique ecosystem that house a high biodiversity of plants and creatures. Their cool, fresh waters come from rain that permeates the chalk, filtering it and allowing it to flow through the flinty bedrock and emerge further down slopes as purely clear mineral water.
In this series, Davies takes the reflection of light on the surface of the sea and overlays it onto the chalk streams, creating a sparkling liquid path. As the glimmer snakes its way upstream, it hints at a darker story; the subtly placed layer of seawater on the chalk stream symbolises the rising sea levels and consequences of climate change, thereby bringing together two stunning landscapes that should never meet.
